As one of the newest members of the IDentilam team, this was my debut into the world of The Meetings Show. In fact this was the first trade show I had ever attended and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
I went up on the Monday with my Sales Director to build up the stand. It was hot work under the spotlights but when we were done, we had a feeling of great satisfaction seeing everything up and ready to go.
The first two days of the show my colleagues Jemma and Laura were manning the stand so it was business as usual for me in the office. On the Thursday I woke up with a sense of excitement, I remembered to wear flat shoes (phew) and I headed to the train station to meet Laura and start our journey to Kensington Olympia.
After a smooth train journey and a quick breakfast to take on board some fuel (a granola bar and a bottle of coke for me and bacon roll for Laura) we were there! Setting up for the day was simple and didn’t take long, all that was left to do was wait for people to arrive and get chatting.
At 9.30 there was an announcement to let us know that the show was open, I won’t pretend that I wasn’t nervous because I was but I put on a confident face – fake it until you make it as they say – and soon enough I was chatting away to people about what we offer as a company. The main things that I spoke about were the IDhesive badges they were really popular, also a lot of people were interested in our software which enables badges to be designed and produced in house. As we create, use and sell our own badging software we have a perfect solution for these needs, if you are interested in badging software then click here.
As the day went on I got more and more confident talking to people and I did my first software demo, which went well! Before I knew it, it was time to start packing up. The breakdown was the hardest bit of the show for me as it was very hot, very heavy and I had a massive blister. But even lugging the tables to the car we were all smiling because we had a very successful show!
So all in all my experience with The Meetings Show was a positive one and I am looking forward to doing it all again next year.
