RFID is the word on everyone’s lips at the moment, but we’re asking whether it’s always the best solution?
When it comes to choosing between barcode or RFID badging, there are various different factors to consider and it can often be a tricky choice – good job we’re on hand to help you out.
With RFID, we often ask people why they’re so interested in using this option to which we always get a similar response that they want the latest in badging technology. RFID is a very impressive, high-tech solution to badging and if you want to impress your delegates then this is probably the option for you. It’s quick, effective and even works from a distance when using Ultra High Frequency readers.
When we ask people about barcodes, usually the reaction doesn’t seem to be as enthusiastic as barcodes seem to carry connotations of being dated and and un-innovative. At IDentilam we simply don’t agree. Barcodes are a fantastic option, they’re inexpensive, reliable, tried and tested and work well with both paper and plastic badges.
In fact, when you strip both options back, they’re just two different ways of doing the same job. They are just two different ways of collecting data and exchanging a unique identifier.
If your event has a high budget, you want to impress your delegates and you need the process to be quick and effective then we would suggest looking further into RFID badging options. However, if you are on a lower budget, have fewer delegates attending and you want a reliable way to scan your delegates then perhaps the barcode is for you.
