What is ComPicWeb?
ComPicWeb is an internet solution for the creation, production and printing
of ID cards. This can be hosted internally on an Intranet with in
house card printing (via ComPic) or hosted by IDentilam for bureau card
printing. It is very adaptable and can be configured to meet
the specific needs of each client in terms of page designs, method of application
checking and approval, validation and other individual requirements.
What does this mean?
ComPicWeb allows users to apply for ID cards from any location that has access
to the internet. Online applications can then be printed by IDentilam
Bureau and returned to the applicants; alternatively, if ComPicWeb is run
on your intranet, all processes are handled internally by your own staff
via installed ComPic software.
Do I have to invest in hardware?
By using the IDentilam Bureau to print your cards, there is no equipment
to purchase or maintain. If you opt to run ComPicWeb internally,
you will need ComPic software installed locally and a DOPPIE printer for
production of the cards. Please contact IDentilam for
further details.
And software?
By using the ComPicWeb service you will benefit from continual software upgrades
and maintenance as part of the service contract. If
you have further specific requirements, we will discuss this with you and
propose a suitable solution – the software is extremely powerful and adaptable
and can be configured to meet your needs.
How does this benefit my organisation?
Many organisations have found ComPicWeb to be an ideal and cost effective
way of streamlining their staff ID card issue or handling event accreditation,
whether based centrally or spread across multi-sites. You
can opt either to use the ComPicWeb Bureau Service or to host ComPicWeb
internally. Your database records and photo images
are held centrally and can be accessed online, at anytime from any location,
according to your requirements.
Does this mean that anyone can apply for one of our ID cards?
IDentilam will tailor ComPicWeb to suit your specific security and procedural
requirements. Typically, predefined users within an organisation
can access the software using unique user names passwords to apply for
ID cards for new employees or to reissue expired cards. These applications
are then forwarded for vetting/approval eg by a line manager, before being
submitted to IDentilam Bureau for production. If you
are running ComPicWeb internally on your intranet, you can set up access
to the card application webpage to be open to all users or limited to authorised
users, as required.
But I don’t want our
office in Paris to be able to see staff records from the UK.
That’s fine. You can set up location filters for the different
sites so that each can only see records for their own office or department – or
be able to see all records but only have write access to their own. The
location could also be a department or building on the same site.
Is it difficult to use?
ComPicWeb is very simple and intuitive to use – user tips and help
are accessible on screen and our telephone helpline runs 8.30am-5pm Monday
to Friday.
Is it secure though?
Data security is maintained by employing the latest hardware Firewall technology,
password protection and secure encryption using SSL/https, to industry
standards. Using the IDentilam Bureau, data is
held on a dedicated server at a secure data centre; data is mirrored onto
a second server and backups are taken daily and stored offsite. The
option is also available to restrict website access to specific IP addresses
so that your staff will only to be able to access the database from behind
the firewall/proxy server nominated by you. Using the
intranet solution, the server will be hosted internally at your own site
in accordance with your own network security and housekeeping procedures.
Will I lose control of our ID card issue if I use the ComPicWeb Bureau Service?
No. You will be able to access and audit applications securely online
at any time and monitor each application’s progress – from employee
application to your second stage vetting and approval to our print production
and despatch. Our service is designed to meet your requirements
and can be configured to suit.
We run in-house events, can I use ComPicWeb to issue conference cards too?
Yes, ComPicWeb can provide the perfect online solution. All applicants
can register online for the event and select from a pre-defined card-type
list eg) delegate, speaker, VIP, crew. The applications
would be directed to your designated accreditation office for approval, if
required, before being submitted to the ComPic database ready for printing.
Standard email responses will confirm to the applicant the status of their
application at any time.
What about when we are on-site at the event?
If you are running a large event with high volumes of people attending, PDAs
can be used to link to your ComPicWeb database to access records remotely.
This can be enormously beneficial when handling queries at registration –
organisers can quickly check to see the stage in the production process of
a particular application eg) that someone is a late applicant and the process
has just begun, that their pass has been printed and is awaiting collection,
that their application is pending final stage vetting – and so on.
Can I see a demonstration of the software?
Yes, we would be delighted to talk to you about how ComPicWeb would benefit
your organisation, in the meantime if you use this link, you can access
an online demonstration now. www.compicweb.com
